I just got back from Italy to visit my family for the holidays and I need to admit that I am impressed!!!
There are more plant-based options available at the grocery store and at the restaurants than there were 3 years ago. They are even starting to serve Golden Milk! Wow!! Things are changing!!
So for this reason, I want to talk about Golden Milk, also known as Turmeric Milk.
Golden Turmeric Milk or Haldi Doodh is a powerful Ayurvedic Indian drink with medicinal properties. It's a great immunity booster when suffering from cold, cough, sore throat, headaches, joint aches etc. and It will keep Vata happy. Vata qualities are dry, cold and light so this rich cup of warm milk will balance these qualities.
Turmeric is one of my favorite healing spices that I always keep in my kitchen. Turmeric has powerful anti-inflammatory effects and is a very strong antioxidant. It helps the body fight foreign invaders and has a role in repairing damage. It also has antioxidant, anti carcinogenic, and antimutagenic properties. This spice may also ease symptoms of depression naturally, relieve arthritis pain, and build your heart health. With all those health benefits, you would be crazy not to give this a try!
1 cups almond milk (or milk of your choice)
½ tsp Turmeric
¼ tsp coconut oil
1/8 tsp pumpkin spices
1 tsp Maple syrup (that’s just my preference but you can add more)
1. In a small saucepan over low-medium heat, whisk together milk, coconut oil and spices until warm. Do not let mixture come to a boil. Remove saucepan from heat and allow to cool for 10 minutes.
2. Add maple syrup and enjoy!
