DIY NATURAL BODY LOTION FOR STRETCH MARKS

I have been starting to make my own ointments and body butters about 2 years ago. It was right when I got pregnant with my first baby and decided to nourish my skin with only edible ingredients.

“If you don’t put it in your mouth, don’t put it on your skin.”

Skin is our body’s largest and fastest-growing organ. Our skin is a great outer reflection of our inner health. What we put on our skin is just as important as what we put in our body; both affect the health and well being of our entire body.

Natural remedies and herbs have always been my passion since a younger age but making my own products brought me to the next level. I feel so good when researching ingredients, knowing what I am using and knowing they are made with the best love and intentions… it is very self-empowering!

So now I don’t buy skin products from the store anymore because when I start looking at the ingredients my hands automatically puts it right back on the shelf while my mind goes “ I will just make it myself”.

It is absolutely not that hard and it is very rewarding. You gather all the ingredients, put it on the stove and transfer it into a clean container. It might take longer the first time but once you do it a few times, it will be like a piece of cake! It is also a great gift for a friend, your mom or a baby shower.

This particular body lotion is very rich in shea butter.  Its helps regenerate and nourish your skin from the deepest level. It is perfect for stretch marks and for very dry skin.

This is my second pregnancy and I have been using it the whole time and don’t have any stretchmarks. I also have very dry legs and my skin loves it!

It is a very simple recipe. I use 4 main ingredients:

Shea butter (100% pure) is healing and moisturizing to the skin, and helps to address wrinkles, blemishes and more. The oil in shea butter matches the oil produced by the sebaceous glands so it is especially moisturizing and nourishing.

Apricot oil has oleic acid, which is an omega-9 fatty acid and a wonderful emollient that makes hair and scalp softer and more pliable.

Avocado oil. The antioxidants and anti-inflammatory agents in avocado oil help your skin stay smooth, strong, elastic and it protects against skin damage

Vitamin E oil, which play a large part in the aging process.

I totally love this particular body lotion because it is creamy and soft at the same time and it is very easy to apply on the skin.

INGREDIENTS:

  • 100 gr Shea Butter

  • 25 ml Apricot oil

  • 25 ml Avocado oil

  • 1 tsp Vitamin E oil

  • 10 drops Frankincense ess. oil

  • 20 drops Lavender ess. oil

PREPARATION

  • Melt shea butter together with avocado and apricot oil in a double boiler or a bowl set in a larger bowl full of hot water. Whisk to fully combine.

  • Remove from heat and let it cool down.

  • Whip with a hand mixer or stand mixer until the body butter is fluffy and stiff peaks have formed.

  • Transfer it in an airtight container.

  • Store in cool and dark place.
